The exclusion for the Massachusetts Estate Tax is $1 million. (Note, your estate includes your retirement assets and life insurance benefit as well as your other assets). If your estate has more than that amount, the estate will be taxes at rates described. The table is used to compute the credit for state death taxes under Internal Revenue Code Section 2011 in effect on December 31, 2000.
